Translated by Johnson from the original Swedish, this is the journal of "the last Rector from Sweden of the Old Swedes' Church in Philadelphia [who] was one of the outstanding personalities of his day, and widely known in the colonies." Collin "held advanced views on the conservation of forsts, on the protection of birds and animals, on the use of vegetable products for the manufacture of 'useful articles,' on city planning, and a dozen other subjects." Also contains "The list of names of Collin's church members, with special remarks about each one, [which] makes the volume invaluable to amateur and professional genealogists of the Delaware Valley." Blue cloth w/gilt decoration to front cover, gilt spine lettering, 368 pages (including bibliography, index), illustrated, dust jacket illustration by Naglee. A hint of wear to corners/spine ends, mild foxing to front end papers/reverse of frontispiece, in moderately edgeworn dust jacket w/short edge tears, small scrape to right edge of front panel, 1" diagonal tear beginning at top corner of rear fold, light general wear.
